Rick Sheckells has stepped down to spend more time with his family, and Beth Wojton, formerly a high-level official with the Maryland Environmental Service (MES) and more recently, principal at EcoLogix, has been elevated to the role of managing principal effective July 1, 2022. Beth will use her vast experience and expertise to lead EcoLogix to the next level of excellence as she focuses on maintaining exceptional client support, pursuing new opportunities in emerging markets, and advancing equity and social justice while improving the environment.
Beth is well known throughout Maryland and beyond as a highly experienced, successful, and well-respected business leader. As chief operating officer and deputy director of the MES, she was responsible for directing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the agency and managed over 800 environmental professionals on more than 1,000 projects across Maryland and its neighboring states. The combination of her experience, many areas of expertise and drive makes her an ideal fit for EcoLogix Group to begin its next stages of growth.
“I am honored to be selected to lead this distinguished and accomplished group of professionals who are committed to solving the pressing challenges that our clients face. I’m especially excited to have the opportunity to connect governments, businesses, and startups with the many funding opportunities that are now available. EcoLogix excels at helping clients take an idea from concept to reality and making sure all voices are heard. Our team can find funding, maneuver through the regulatory process, and even develop and strengthen a client’s team to ensure the project or business will be an ongoing success,” said Wojton.
Rick Sheckells, serving as managing principal beginning in June 2009, led EcoLogix Group from a mostly Baltimore-centric firm to one that provides support for clients throughout the country. In selecting Beth for the managing principal role, Rick noted her “strong managerial skills, familiarity with the market sectors into which EcoLogix can expand, and her ability to build trust and foster constructive relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders.” Rick will remain available to support Beth and the firm’s clients as he transitions to a senior advisory role, which will allow him time to spend with his family.
For more than 20 years, EcoLogix Group, Inc. has been helping our clients achieve challenging goals and providing practical advice based on a solid technical foundation. From management support and regulatory analysis to stakeholder engagement, our experience affords our clients the knowledge and expertise to save time and money while producing better project and program outcomes. From its inception, EcoLogix Group has been committed to supporting and building relationships with historically disadvantaged communities, which are typically underserved and overburdened with pollution. With the evolving Justice 40 initiative of the federal government and a similar focus by state governments, knowledge of – and effective communications with – these disadvantaged communities are more important than ever. EcoLogix will use its relationships, experience and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice in this new environment to continue to serve its clients and promote the best interests of these communities as EcoLogix moves into Beth’s tenure as the new managing principal.
